My book is called Eye Of Minds by James Dashner. It is by far one of the best books I have ever read. It is very detailed, and has a nice plot that fits together nicely. The main character is Michael. He has two friends, Bryson and Sarah, and all three are hackers. They met together in a digital world called the VirtNet. They get there by going inside metal boxes called "NerveBoxes", which transport their mind into the game. The game they play most is called Lifeblood Deep, the most popular of all games on the VirtNet. But one day, the VirtNet security tells them about Kaine, a cyber- terrorist hacker. And to beat a hacker, you need a hacker...
After Michael and his friends hear about Kaine, the VirtNet security takes them to a Path in the VirtNet. They have to complete the path to get to Kaine, and then defeat him. Along the way, they are faced with many challenges such as KillSims, which are wolflike creatures, with fiery pinpricks for eyes. Their mouths are a dark void, and they suck out your digital and real life. This makes it so an Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be downloaded into your body. You are called a tangent if this happens. My favorite part is when they meet Gunner Skale, a legendary gamer on the VirtNet that they met on the Path. They meet him in a forest, and he pretends to be nice to them. After feeding them and letting them sleep, he gets all weird in the morning. Suddenly, all his animals turn into demons and try to kill them. Michael and his friends barely escape.
I can really relate to this story. Besides the fact that I am a computer geek, I also like a good challenge in a game, just like Michael. He likes action like me. He sometimes is sneaky, like when he got into the Devils of Destruction game. I really like the plot line, because it makes sense unlike some books I've read. It was a good action book that had a good concept. It was good at conveying emotions, like when Helga dies. This book leaves off as a cliff hanger and makes you really want to see the other books. At the end, you find out that Michael is a tangent and so is Kaine. It is really shocking at that point. I would give this book 10/10 circuit boards, and is really a must- read for all Maze Runner fans.
